Looking back at 2013 at The House Meadow

wedding venue review - Matt and Jess

Following on from our round up of 2012, it’s now time for 2013!

We were quieter on the wedding front in 2013, it turns our lots of wedding couples were highly superstitious about the ‘unlucky’ number 13! However, The House Meadow was still gracing some blog pages with previous weddings and this was also the year that we were on BBC’s Don’t Tell The Bride. We also managed to fit in some play time with a styled shoot, so we were still busy bees.

Here are some 2013 blogs we were featured in …

You may remember this gorgeous pair from one of the posts from 2012.

Well, its turns out that the love for these guys travels across the pond as their big day was showcased on the superb American wedding blog, Style Me Pretty

A huge thank you again, to their incredibly talented photographer, Chloe, from Caught The Light who submitted the images for this feature.

Like I mentioned, 2013 was a quieter year for weddings for us so it gave us time to plan at open day.

We invited some supplier friends along to showcase what they can do at the venue and photographer, Rebecca Douglas came along and went to town for us with this styled shoot!

You’ll find the full list of suppliers who featured on the shoot listed alongside Rebecca’s images in her blog post from the day and you’ll also find us all here on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings talking about our inspiration for the shoot and a selection of images, too.

I am so very thankful for Becky and Rob, as they chose the incredibly talented Kerry Ann Duffy as their photographer back for their Summer 2012 wedding, and since then Kerry and I have become good friends as well as colleagues.

Becky and Rob had a really quirky and care free day with lots of fun elements to keep their guests entertained. There were striped bags of popcorn, make your own ice cream sundaes and sparkly converse – a perfect combination.

Did I mention that the guys at Home Gurr’own were back again, too? You can always reply on them for creative food options!

Kerry captured the day wonderfully and you can get a taster for their day over on the Whimsical Wonderland Wedding blog pages.

If you’re fans of ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ then you may remember English Teacher, Grantt, who wanted to create a storybook wedding for his science student bride-to-be Kallie? But while she yearned for a traditional old-fashioned church, Grantt was more focused on his elaborate fairy-tale theme. So, did he pull it off? Of course he did, it was a cracker and a really fun experience for us!

Unfortunately there is no longer a link to watch the episode online anymore but do keep an eye out for any repeats – it was episode 11 of season 7. If you fancy taking a look at some pictures of their day then head on over to our Pinterest board.

So that’s 2013 wrapped up – head back soon to check out our (much longer!)2014 round up!
