Looking back at  2014 at The House Meadow

We were well in the swing of things when we got to 2014. Even more stunning weddings and a handful if styled shoots kept us really busy!

In this post you’ll find features from our gorgeous ‘Escape to Oz’ shoot which was based on the Disney film ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’  – it was heavily blogged and also featured in Perfect Wedding Magazine, too. And also, our ‘Winters Romance’ shoot which produced some of the most gorgeous shots of Horseshoes Barn decked out in all it’s glory. Both of these shoots were photographed by the lovely Kerry Ann Duffy, who knows the venue so very well now and always has the same vision as me!

Our real weddings were featured on some lovely wedding blogs, too.  Lisa and Louis’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ marquee wedding graced the pages over on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, and Boho Weddings featured two of our lovely country barn weddings.

This was one of our first shoots featuring Horseshoes Barn which is licensed for Civil Ceremonies (alongside our Gazebo on the Lake) as well as a gorgeous intimate space for your reception.

Kerry Ann Duffy and I had some great ideas for this shoot and with the help of some amazing wedding suppliers we were able to produce the look we were going for. The shoot is full of soft shades and gleaming metallics, with a variety of textures to add some unique contrasts.

Our real couple Meg and Kenny were the perfect models for us and we loved capturing their love for each other, and just look at Meg’s make up! What a stunner, a huge thank you to our Make Up artist Nicola Peen for creating such a gorgeous romantic look.

Kerry Ann also featured the images on her own blog which you will find here.

Our next styled shoot was ‘Escape to Oz’ which was our take on the Disney film, ‘Oz the Great and the Powerful’.

It was so much fun to create such a vibrant, unashamedly sparkly and fun shoot. We chose our colour pallet of Emerald greens and Ruby reds, alongside shimmering golden tones. It was a glorious sunny day and the transition in to the evening was utterly beautiful – highlighted by glittering festoon lights and sparklers.

Ignite film came along to shoot a behind the scenes video which captures the day and the finished product perfectly. Oh, and did I mention the smoke bombs? We had SO much fun. Here is the video to go alongside the images that you’ll not only find on Bridal Musings but also on Kerry Ann’s own blog too.

Wedding Venue Review - Tracy and Jim

Tracy and Jim had a gorgeous Summer wedding with some cracking DIY touches for their friends and family to enjoy. Jim made a gorgeous sweetie cart which was such a hit with not only the kids but with all the guests!

The fabulous Sandra from Divine Day was their photographer and you can see this wedding featured on the Festival Brides wedding blog.

Bridal Musings must have enjoyed our styled shoots as they named us in their list of the Top 10 Barn Venues in the world…praise indeed!

A quote from the article reads “This 17th century, oak beam barn oozes rustic charm and casual elegance.”

Lisa and Louis, well, more Lisa and her lovely mum were one of our crafty couples! Lisa and Mum, Lesley, made so many paper craft goods for the tables, including the most gorgeous paper tea cups. There were embroidery hoops with images and quotes from the literary classic, Pride and Prejudice. And we all love Mr Darcy, don’t we?!

Nicola from Daffodil Waves was their photographer and she has also featured the images over on her own blog.

Charlene and Michael had a beautiful June wedding, and to this date they had the BEST table plan I have ever seen, make sure you check it out!

Sandra from Divine Day was back again to capture their day and also had her second shooter, Jerri with her too. Both ladies featured their images on the respective blogs both here and here.

A highlight of the day was when their Pizza van started serving their evening food. Watching their guests meander around the lake with a slice of pizza in one hand and a drink in the other, made for one of the happiest weddings I’ve seen!
